Family is a fundamental social institution in society, the family, important agent of socialization family typically consists of a man, woman and children. Traditionally, in all socializes, the social institution: that has the biggest impact on society. The family is the most important for it is with in the family that child is first socialized to serve the needs of the society and not only its own needs (Goode 1982).

Socialization can be defined as the process whereby values, norms, attitudes and morals are transferred from the older generation to the younger generation.
To transfer this virtue to the younger ones, there are medium of doing them and these are called agents of socialization of which the family is one of them.
Family is the bedrock of every society and it forms the basis of bringing out the best in the children. For this reason, below are some of the duties of the family for the purpose of socialization. The family helps to instil obedience and respect in the children, tolerance, responsibilities to development of leadership qualities and so many more that is why they say is regarded as the most important agent of socialization.

Answers:
1. Socialization is the process of learning how to live in a way acceptable to one’s own society, said especially about children.
Agents of Socialization are;
i. The Home/Family
ii. The school
iii. Peer group
iv. Religious institutions.
v. Mass media.
The most important part of the agents of socialization is the Home/Family
Family is the bedrock of any society and also the foundation of any society. It is the duty of the family to lay the foundation for the children not only of knowledge but also of character, virtue and morality. It is in the family that the foundations of belief and reverence must be built upon.
2. They are:
a. The family or even any part of the agents of socialization instills discipline and other attitudes which promote harmonious living.
b. Respect for Elders and those in positions of Authority: the agents of socialization especially the family place much emphasis on respect for elders and those in authority.
c. Encouraging Girls to Remain Virgins until they are married: an interesting aspect of these agents encourage girls to remain virgin until marriage. This accounts for the relatively fewer Cassese of abortion and unwanted pregnancy in our traditional set-up.
d. Skill Acquisition: agents of socialization especially school and home provides opportunity for the child to acquire various physical, vocational and intellectual skills which will enable them not just to fit into but become relevant to the society in which he finds himself.

Socialization is the act of adapting behaviour to the norms of a culture or society is called. Socialization occurs throughout our life but some of the most important socialization occurs in our childhood. Four of the most influential agents of socialization during that phase of our lives are the family, school, peers, and mass media. Family is usually considered to be the most important agents of socialization.
1. The agent of socialization that is very important to the society is:
FAMILY
First thing anyone is exposed to his/her family. It happens in several ways, direct or acting teaching, indirect teaching, observing behaviour and attitudes, even the games and bedtime stories have an effect. In the first few years of a child’s life, the child is very impressionable and at the same time looks up to his family especially his parents. What he learns in these years gets imprinted in his parents. What he learns in these years gets imprinted in his subconscious and become is very hard to remove.
STATE VARIOUS REASONS WHY THEY ARE NECESSARY IN OUR SOCIETY.
1. Socialization begins within family because as an infant we develop basic skills, around our original being. We learn love.
2. At school children begin understanding there are rules, and limitations. They learn consequences, as well as what good and bad.
3. Children learn from one another by seeing each other e.g cultures, lifestyles, religion and different ethnicities.
4. Media is one of the greatest influences on individual, what they see observe and here from media usually sacks to them.
