A Review on Foundation of Social Studies
    Summary
This book, foundations of social studies deals with issues of educational balances of a child. This is because it comprises the philosophical, psychological and sociological rationale for the introduction or inclusion of the discipline in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions of learning. It state the aims and objectives of social studies in Nigeria, it also considered the integration.
The author also said that there are many definitions of social studies but no one universally acceptable definition can be given. This is because it deals with social science and humanities studies.
The book lists the scope of social studies, which includes history, geography, economics, political science, psychology, religion, philosophy, sociology and anthropology.
The book also talk about the history development of the social studies after the first and Second World War, this is to curb the effect of the war, so that the children and society as general develop the conscience for their living in the society they find themselves. It also discusses how Nigeria introduces social studies education in their schools.
Finally. The book talks about the social problems, issues like HIV/AIDS, population issues, family life and drug problems.
The book is very educative, after reading it made me knowledgeable enough to understand the course social studies.
